Appearing on Fox News Channel to discuss the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and what it has been up to, former Assistant US Attorney Andy McCarthy skewered the agency that many Americans now see as Joe Biden’s personal Gestapo, saying that it has a long history of politicized behavior and is far from just being an impartial law enforcement agency.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has significantly damaged its standing amongst Republican and independent voters after its raid of former President Donald Trump’s home.
Speaking on that, McCarthy first noted how the FBI’s history as J Edgar Hoover’s politicized force should inform our understanding of it at the present. In his words:
“I think it’s deeper than that, though, John. You know, the FBI started out as the embodiment of J. Edgar Hoover and an entire history of politicized behavior that we hoped in the 1980s and 1990s the Bureau had kind of grown out of.”
According to a Rasmussen survey published on Thursday, more than half of Americans now view the FBI as Joe Biden’s “personal Gestapo.”
Former Trump adviser Roger Stone warns that “politicized thugs at the top of the FBI” are using the agency as “Joe Biden’s personal Gestapo.”
A majority of those surveyed, 53 percent, agreed with Stone’s assessment, while 34 percent “strongly agreed.
McCarthy isn’t the only one to call out the FBI for turning into a gang of political hacks. Many on the GOP side of things have turned on the FBI following the absurd Mar-a-Lago raid as well, with Rep.
On Friday, President Trump announced plans to file a “major motion” in response to the “illegal” FBI raid of his Florida residence.
“A major motion pertaining to the Fourth Amendment will soon be filed concerning the illegal Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago, right before the ever important Mid-Term Elections,” Trump warned on his Truth Social page. “My rights, together with the rights of all Americans, have been violated at a level rarely seen before in our Country. The greatest Witch Hunt in USA history has been going on for six years, with no consequences to the scammers. It should not be allowed to continue!”
